Do spirit guides exist? And if they do, what exactly are they? Are they simply spirits, ghosts, angels, aliens, or any other entity?
To put it simply, spirit guides are ethereal beings that have been assigned to us before we are incarnated. Their goal is to nudge us to the right path as we go on with our life’s journey, and they provide assistance either practically or spiritually. Their primary responsibility is to help us fulfill our spiritual purpose within the grand scheme of things. We tend to have four to seven guides during our lifetime, with our main guide being with us from birth.
Many of us have experienced a spontaneous action that made no sense at the time but turned out to be exactly what was needed at the proper moment. We scratch our heads and think, “what made me do/say that?” This is an example of a spirit guide stepping in to help you in some facet of your life.
Spirit guides can be labeled as Archangels, Angels, Guardian Angels and Guides, Goddesses, Ascended Masters and Enlightened Beings, Ancestors, Spirit Animals, Elemental Energies (Sylphs, Undines, Salamanders, and Gnomes), or something residing upon the earth such as a tree, mountain, or body of water. Anything that holds energy has the ability to use that energy to communicate impressions, feelings, thoughts and healing.
Your spirit guide has a greater understanding about your life purpose
The role of your spirit guides is to ensure that the path you take in life is aligned with your soul’s purpose. If you are currently dealing with a task that is in line with your purpose, your guides will support you in that endeavor. You will know because they will work out something to lead you to the people and resources that will allow you to accomplish your goals. They can also offer some perspective when you are at a loss. However, your spirit guides will only help you if what you’re facing right now is something that honors your spiritual purpose. For example, if you are not working on something that needs a tremendous amount of money, chances are your spirit guides will not help you win the lottery. In short, if what you’re asking for is something that doesn’t have anything to do or doesn’t add anything to the accomplishment of your soul’s purpose, your guides won’t likely be interested in helping you out.
Your life path might involve the opportunity to become more patient, kind or maybe help others. Our spirit guides will help as much as they can to ensure we get the opportunities to experience whatever we need to grow in these areas.
They might arrange for ‘coincidental’ meetings or help us to be in the place we are meant to be so that important life lessons can happen. They might whisper words of reassurance or help us to find the information we need to get the job done. They are wonderful and our lives would be so much harder if they weren’t around.
Some more advanced earthly souls right now (maybe you), are here to help mankind. As our soul slips into our physical bodies at birth we usually forget why we are here and what our mission is. We don’t need to worry; our guides are around and ready to ‘awaken’ us when the time is right. Your mission is probably something you already feel excited about doing!
How Do You Know That They Exist?
Learning to feel the presence of a spirit guide is very similar to learning how to ride a bike or learning how to swim. You can read about it all day but the only way to find out if you’re really getting it is to try it out. You learn to tune in to them by practicing, by trial and error. In the same way that babies know how to swim by instinct, we also know how to translate energy from its non-physical form. People do it all day long so there really is no need to complicate things.
You can start by asking for guidance and answers, and then pay attention to the messages or signs that you receive. However, don’t expect ascended masters to just appear, such as Buddha or Jesus. The answers you’ll get will be much more subtle than that, because you can only get what you are ready for. What this means is that their manifestation has to feel as normal as possible, like it isn’t much of a deal. When spirit guides make their presence felt, it will always seem like a whisper rather than a shout, especially in the beginning.
